Haritalika Teej celebrated in Nepal and the maximum state of India is the festival of women usually celebrated following the Hindu rituals in the name of Lord Shiva and Sati Devi (later reborn as Parvati). It is the most awaited festival of women that priorly falls in the month of August (Depending upon the Lunar Calendar). On this day, women take the vrat (Fasting) in the name of Lord Shiva to wish for the well-being of her husband and the entire family or to get the most caring person in the world.
It is the festival celebrated by both married and unmarried women. Married women celebrate this festival to wish for the Happy and Prosperous environment, among the family members and unmarried women celebrate this festival to get the most caring future husband. During this day, Women live for 24 hours without having a single meal at her mouth.
In order to make this festival enjoyable and joyful, the ages of Women form the group and start performing different rituals and enjoy themselves freely on the Haritalika Teej songs. On this day, the different Shivalaya temples of India and Nepal are over-crowded. It is believed that upon visiting the Shivalaya on the day of Haritalika Teej, all the wishes of women came true.

Why Haritalika Teej is celebrated?
As per the Hindu Mythology, Lady Parvati (reborn of Sati Devi) undertook a rigorous penance in the Himalayas, so as to get Lord Shiva as her husband. After looking Parvati’s higher deep towards him, Lord Shiva gets married to Goddess Parvati. Since that day, Hindu women of India and Nepal started taking vrat, just to get the husband like Lord Shiva.
Where it is celebrated?
Including all over Nepal, Haritalika Teej is mostly celebrated in the northern states of India such as Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Bihar.
